How To Raise Funds For Street Invaders:

First things first: if God has confirmed with you that it is His will for you to come to Street Invaders, then it is also up to Him to provide you with the means of raising your funds. In other words, your greatest work will be to simply ask Jesus for direction and supply. This is called an act of faith, and when you do this with your entire life, it’s called a life of faith. This is what Jesus has called you to as a disciple.

Next, consider some of the options below for fundraising, and if the Lord seems to give you a peace about one of them, talk to your parents, youth pastor, etc., and see what they think. Then ask the Lord for His blessing and go for it! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call. God bless!

To hear what some former Street Invaders have to say about raising funds, check out the video below.

1. Car Wash

Everyone needs their vehicles cleaned, and this is a great way to raise money. You may be able to set up a car wash in your church parking lot, or in the parking lot of your local service station, or even right outside your house.

Need
- hoses
- buckets
- cloths
- soap – dish soap works fine
- advertising – posters on busy streets, handouts, etc.

Process
Just let people know that you are raising funds to do missions work. You can either charge a set price, say $3 – $5 per car for an exterior wash, or you can just accept donations. Usually the donations route is best. It helps to have a small handout to explain what the money is for, what church you attend, what SI is about, and where you are going.

Spray the car, wash it with soapy water, then rinse. (DUH!) Make sure if it’s really sunny out that you do the wash in 2 to 3 sections, as the soap will dry on the car if you don’t. You could even vacuum and clean the inside of the car and make more money.
Note: DO A GOOD JOB! The worst advertising for what you are doing is a poor wash. Practice on your parents vehicles until you get it right, and always do a walk around the car when you are finished to check the quality of your work, before you ask for the money!

2. Shovel Snow

go to your neighbors and ask if you can shovel their driveways, walks, etc., for donations towards your missions trip.

3. Mow Lawns

go to your neighbors and ask if you can cut their lawns for donations towards your missions trip. Use your own lawn mower and you can make more money than if you use theirs.

4. Bake Sale/Garage sale

Everyone has yard sales. Advertise it in your community through your community newspaper, your church bulletin, posters at the grocery store, door to door handouts, etc. Ask your relatives, friends, church family, neighbors if they have anything that they could donate towards the sale.
Note: don’t charge a huge price on your junk. You’ll end up with no money and lots of junk to pack into your room, because your parents aren’t going to want it.

5. Wash Windows

Window washing is a great way to raise funds. The going price for washing the outside windows of a standard house is around $40 - $60 and 50% more if you do the insides as well. We have listed some websites that will help you with information on how to wash windows, what to use for tools and cleaners, etc. Again, let people know that you are in the window cleaning business through flyers, handouts, posters at church/grocery stores/etc.

6. Collect Pop Cans/bottles

There are a number of provinces and states that take bottles/cans/etc. back for money. You could put a flyer in mailboxes in your community to tell them that you are collecting on a certain day for the purpose of funding a missions trip. You could put a box at your church or your parents place of work, labeled to say that the funds go towards your missions trip.

Here are the provincial contacts for information on recycling in your province. Check these out before you start, so you are aware of what kinds of bottles/cans/etc. each province will accept back for recycling purposes.

7. Prayer/Fundraising Letter

We have attached a sample of a prayer/fundraising letter that you can personalize and send to your friends, relatives, church family, etc. For example, if you are applying for the national program, you only need 18 people to give you $20.00 for the BC or Quebec program and 25 people to give you $20.00 for the Saskatchewan program for you to meet your goal. Here are a couple of things to remember:
(You can download the Sample Prayer/Support Letter by clicking here)

  1. Make sure to thank everyone who gives you funds, and also send a report letter
when you are finished to thank them again, and let them know how your mission
went. This is good stewardship on your part.

  2. You will find that people are much more willing to help you with finances for your trip, if you are working at raising funds in other ways as well. It shows initiative on your part. Make sure you share with them what you are doing.

  3. Remember: the best thing that people can do for you is to pray for you. If God wants you on Street Invaders, He will supply the funding. You may want to put together a prayer card, with your picture, information, and dates of the mission, so that people can remember to pray for you on the mission.

  4. Many people who will give you finances will be expecting a charitable donation receipt. Normally, it’s best to ask your church if it’s alright with them to have your funds channeled through their account, as the church will be able to give receipts for donations you receive. It is extremely important that you confirm whether or not people can receive a charitable donation receipt for their donations and communicate this with them.

If you aren’t sure about this and need more information, please contact us here at 1-877-356-0707. We can help you in this area.
